Tell us about your portfolio ↗WHAT IS AN EICR?
A report on the condition of your electrical installation.
An EICR is an Electrical Installation Condition Report. It covers inspection and testing of the fixed electrical installation within the agreed extent and limitations, including wiring, distribution boards and circuits.
Our inspections follow BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations. The report records the findings, observations and any recommended next steps. Portable appliances and domestic smoke-alarm testing are separate services that can be added to your enquiry.
A fair assessment. Clear next steps.
Our “pass if we can” policy means we assess the installation fairly. We do not look for remedial work to sell. An older installation does not automatically need upgrading simply because the regulations have changed.
If repairs are needed, we explain them and seek approval. Where practical, we agree an on-site remedial price so suitable work can be completed during the visit, reducing repeat bookings and access arrangements.

Does an EICR need renewing every five years?
For rented homes in England covered by the electrical safety regulations, the fixed electrical installation must be inspected and tested at least every five years, or sooner if the previous report specifies a shorter interval. Check the next-inspection date on your report and arrange testing before it is due.
This is a repeat inspection requirement, not a rule that the law changes every five years. A report issued in 2021 with a five-year interval will normally need its next inspection in 2026. A change to BS 7671 does not, by itself, mean an existing installation automatically needs upgrading.
Owner-occupied homes and commercial premises have different considerations; the appropriate interval depends on the installation, its use and the inspector’s assessment.

Is an EICR the same as PAT testing?
No. An EICR assesses the fixed electrical installation. PAT testing covers portable electrical appliances. You can request both as part of the same enquiry.
Will the power need to be switched off?
Some testing requires isolation. We discuss access, interruptions and working hours before booking. Out-of-hours work is charged at 1.5 times the standard rate; mixed-hours work is reflected on the invoice.
Can I send you an existing EICR?
Yes. A previous report can help us understand the installation and prepare a more accurate quote. Tell our bookings team when you enquire.
What if I do not know the number of circuits?
Select “Not sure” in the commercial quote builder or send an enquiry. We review the scope with you rather than guessing the circuit count.
